What Is The Pine Street church of Christ?

The Pine Street church is a family of Christians from New Martinsville and surrounding communities who work and worship according to the Bible. Our primary mission is to tell as many people as possible about Jesus Christ — the answer to life’s most difficult questions. He has made a difference in our lives and we want to share the joy of serving Him with you. We are committed to the truth as the basis of our relationship with God and one another (John 8:31-32). We are also committed to one another demonstrated by our love as disciples of Jesus Christ (John 13:34-35). A group of men called elders oversee the church (1 Peter 5:1-4) assisted by deacons who serve the needs of the church (Philippians 1:1). We also have various teachers, both men and women, who teach our children. The evangelist devotes his time to the study and presentation of the word of God. Our ministry is primarily a teaching one since the gospel is “the power of God unto salvation” (Romans 1:16). Come and see for yourself!

What Should You Expect From Us?

You should expect a warm, friendly greeting. Guests are always welcome to attend our assemblies. We will not single you out by asking you to stand up or raise your hand, but you are free to participate in our worship and Bible study. Our worship is simple and based upon the word of God, but we believe it is spiritually uplifting to all who are present (John 4:24). We do not specialize in being a daycare center or recreational club; we specialize in being a church—a unique concept in today’s religious world. And we make no apology for that. A typical worship assembly on Sunday consists of singing (Colossians 3:16), praying (Acts 2:42), preaching (Acts 20:7), observing the Lord’s Supper (1 Corinthians 11:23-26), and giving (1 Corinthians 16:1-2). We also welcome your comments and questions about our work and worship as a church. We are not infallible, but we believe the word of God is and we encourage everyone to search the Scriptures for the answers to all religious questions (Acts 17:11). We want to “make sure of Heaven” and we urge you to do the same (2 Peter 1:10-11).
