Pine Street church of ChristChurch building

Our History

Our Congregation was formed in 1979 and first met at the Virginia Center on Virginia Street in New Martinsville, West Virginia.

Originally, there were 14 members. Over the years, our church has grown and has attempted to preach the Gospel in our community by conducting radio programs, publishing articles in the newspaper, and publishing a weekly bulletin, the Pine Street "Proclaimer". In March 2007, a radio program, "For the Glory of God", began broadcast on Sunday mornings on Magic 99.5 FM and local cable Channel 15.

In 1985, our congregation purchased the property on Pine Street and built our present building. On December 29, 1985, the first service was held at this location. Fifty-six people were present.

Since our congregation was established, Paul Rockwell has diligently served as evangelist. In August, 2003, Brother Rockwell retired from full-time preaching and Jeremy Joy became our evangelist. We continue to grow and presently have 55 members and 24 children.

Our Elders are Tim E. Haught, Tim Price, Paul Rockwell, and Gary Koontz. Our Deacons are John Skinner and Paul Shockley.

We meet Sunday mornings at 9:45 a.m. and Sunday evenings at 6:00 p.m. for worship. We also meet on Wednesday evenings at 7:30 p.m. for mid-week Bible study. Additionally, we have two gospel meetings each year and support other gospel preachers.

The Pine Street church of Christ welcomes you and encourages you to join in the work of the church in our community.
